Driveway Sensor
A driveway sensor is a
device designed to detect any form of movement that crosses the path of
its sensor. These devices are commonly used as security measures to
protect homes, businesses and private properties.A motion-detecting
device can come in various forms from wireless alarm systems, to wired
alarms, metal detection alert devices and infrared alarms. All these
work to fulfill the same objective - to provide a form of security by
sending an alert when motion is detected. The main purpose for
installing a driveway sensor is to be alerted of any unwanted intruders
or unplanned visitors. Instead of alarms, some sensors trigger
doorbells or chimes to ring when motion is detected. This will alert you
of visitors entering your driveway even before they reach your main
door. Most systems typically consist of a detection device that
transmits a signal to a remote receiver. This is especially so for
wireless systems so that you'll be alerted of visitors no matter where
you are in your house. Wireless motion-detection systems are a popular
and economical choice when it comes to a driveway sensor. These units
are generally cost-effective, easy to install and requires nominal
maintenance. Wired systems, in contrast, require expensive installation,
as cables may have to be laid into the ground. Then there are security
systems that are built with metal detection probes to pick out the
movement of large metallic objects like vehicles. By design, these
systems are triggered by the movement of vehicles and not people or
animals. Finally, infrared sensors contain motion-detection instruments
that use heat to track movement. This type of alarm system is often
installed at the entrance of your driveway and will be alerted when a
person or vehicle passes through. Apart from sounding an alarm or a
doorbell, driveway motion-detectors can also be fitted with lights that
are activated when motion is detected. In general, a driveway sensor
is relatively affordable and simple to set up, making it an ideal choice
to keep unwanted intruders away.
